PICV dynamic balancing valves

The section concerning the balancing of hydraulic circuits is completed with a new series of dynamic balancing valves which, thanks to a membrane device with contrast spring, are able to maintain the flow rate constant within a certain differential pressure range. These valves are defined PICV (Pressure Independent Control Valves) or control devices independent of the differential pressure. Even in view of changes, such as opening/closing of the individual utilities on the different system branches, the PICV valves react by maintaining the flow rate to the served terminals constant, avoiding hydraulic impairment in the circuits which may cause uncomfortable situations (excessive or insufficient temperatures) and waste of energy.

The PICV valves consist of a valve body to which an insert of choice can be combined according to the type of operation and work conditions required (flow rate, differential pressure). There are three types of inserts:

  • PICC01, available in 10 different models for DN 15 and DN 20, and in 5 models for DN 25 and DN 32 valves. This insert offers the opportunity to pre-calibrate the flow rate up to the 8 values/positions available and allows stabilisation, also in case of changes in pressure.
  • PICC02, available in 6 different models that transforms the PICV valve into a flow rate stabiliser. Using a special key, on each insert you can select a position/flow rate among 41 available. The advantage compared to PICC01 is the option to vary the calibration position directly from the outside and with the system running. An additional cartridge is available for the larger valves, namely, DN 25 and DN 32
  • PICC03, available in 2 different models. This insert has similar features to the previous one, in other words the flow rate stabilisation and the possibility of selecting between 41 different flow rate positions, but it also allows application of an on/off or 0-10V axial actuator. In this way, you can provide the interception of the valve, but also, and above all, the independent modulation of the flow rate with respect to the differential pressure. Basically, the valve limits the maximum flow rate and modulates it independently of the pressure at the ends of the insert.
